The MITbr – Brazil Platform opens a new fundamental branch in the International Theater Festival of São Paulo – MITsp in 2018. It is an internationalization program for Brazilian performing arts and this first edition is considered a trial, seeking to promote thirteen outstanding national contemporary productions of recent years. Curated by three experts in the field – Welington Andrade, Christine Greiner and Felipe Assis – the selected shows will be invited to perform at the MITsp fifth edition for national and international festival programmers and for the general public. The initiative represents an important step towards expanding the international appreciation for the Brazilian theater, fostering its circulation and visibility. In this edition, we present works made by groups and artists from São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Paraná, Pernambuco, Brasília and Minas Gerais, in order to reach out to different regions of the country and provide a national panorama.
