Synopsis
(A)pollonia is a project based on classic and contemporary texts, with excerpts from Alceste, of Euripedes; Oresteia, of Aeschylus; and Apolonia, of Hanna Krall; among others. These mythological stories are reflected at 20th century experiences, as the feeling of powerlessness in face of the Holocaust. Krzysztof Warlikowski searches into guilt, forgiveness and vengeance, myth and history, family and destiny, love and death, sacrifice and cowardice. It is a study of fear, war despair and post-war grief. An attempt to define the limits of humanity.
