SYNOPSIS
Real, divine, and fictional bodies overflow in situations that challenge archetypes of beauty, fertility, and ecstasy. This piece, born from the encounter between the Giradança company and choreographer Elisabete Finger, features three performers who accumulate a repertoire of familiar and unfamiliar postures and body patterns arranged in a circular choreographic structure that operates between continuity and dissolution, the performance excavates layers of eroticism buried beneath histories and mythologies, certainties and assumptions.
BACKGROUND
Giradança is a dance company based in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte. Founded in 2005 by dancers Anderson Leão and Roberto Morais, it defines itself as a “zone of tension” interested in the relationship between bodies with and without disabilities in a choreographic context. Its works seek to challenge prejudices and pre-established limits through original dramaturgies that question and expand perceptions of normative and non-normative bodies. Over the years, the group has collaborated with choreographers such as Anderson Leão, Alexandre Américo, Ana Catarina Vieira e Angelo Madureira, ClébioToula Limnaios, Clébio Oliveira, Elisabete Finger, Eduardo Fukushima, and Bia Sano, among others.
CRITICAL RECEPTION
“Its almost graphic, hallucinatory, and rhythmic visual arrangement, with succinct elements, transforms the set and body into a danced language through the group’s metaphorical proposal. In a renewed dimension, with high quality and strong tone, it delivers a bold and well-crafted new architecture of (and for the) senses.” Marcio Tito, Deus Ateu
“Three women with different experiences. Three completely distinct bodies that do not accept pre-established roles. On stage, they come together in a choreography that makes them permeable, allowing themselves to dissolve into one another. “Daniel Tavares, Elle
