ABOUT

nora chipaumire was born in 1965 in what was then known as Umtali, Rhodesia (now Mutare, Zimbabwe). She is a product of colonial education for black native Africans – known as group B schooling. She studied law at the University of Zimbabwe and dance at Mills College in Oakland, California. As African knowledge acquisition does not come with baccalaureates it is impossible to quantify what the African body holds. chipaumire acknowledges these knowledges in addition to the western forms branded into her.

Jay Pather is a curator, writer and choreographer. He is Professor at the University of Cape Town and directs the Institute for Creative Arts. His artistic work deploys site-specific, interdisciplinary and intercultural strategies to frame postcolonial imaginaries, decoloniality and social justice. He curates Infecting the City Public Art Festival, the ICA Live Art Festival and Spier Light Art in Cape Town, Afrovibes Festival  (Amsterdam) and the Live Art Series for the Smithsonian (Washington DC). He was appointed Fellow at University of London and Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres by the French Ministry of Culture.
