MITbr - PLATAFORMA BRASIL

PERFORMA12h

In its 11th edition, MITsp presents for the first time the performative marathon PERFORMA12h. Curated by professor, artist, and researcher Rodrigo Severo, the program brings together five works by Black collectives and artists, presented over 12 consecutive hours at iBT – Instituto Brasileiro de Teatro, a partner of the initiative. Guided by the title Festive Resistance: Bodies in Celebration, Bodies in Struggle, the curatorial concept draws on the idea of celebration as one of the strategies and tactics of confrontation and survival of Afro-diasporic populations, both in the colonial period and in contemporary society. Celebratory rituals are understood not merely as relief or distraction, but as subversive actions within everyday order, enabling the evocation of traumatic memories, collective revolts, struggles for emancipation, imagined communities, and forms of enchantment nurtured by the lived experiences of Black populations.
