SYNOPSIS
On a Sunday, a family prepares for lunch. Flora, Simão’s wife, decides to make a surprise and invites the neighbors to celebrate a birthday. Little by little, what lay submerged beneath appearances begins to surface. With a text by Argentine playwright Santiago Serrano, known for his realist theater, and directed by Sérgio Sartório, this production by Cia Plágio de Teatro is a dark comedy that provokes reflection on the human condition through themes such as domestic violence, social ethics, the invasion of privacy, and voyeurism. Dialogues that shift between depth and humor reveal how far—and in how many forms—the destructive capacity of human beings can go.
BACKGROUND
Cia Plágio de Teatro is a collective founded in 2007 in Brasília. Over nearly two decades, the company has staged 14 productions, presented in more than 50 Brazilian cities as well as in Milan, Italy. Among its most notable works are Atrás das Paredes, Saiba o Seu Lugar, A Autópsia de um Beija-Flor, Noctiluzes, and Cru. Currently, four actors, one actress, and a technical director share responsibilities for production, direction, and stage creation. For each new production, the group collaborates with guest artists and, since 2013, has worked closely with Argentine playwright Santiago Serrano.
