This monologue explores the incarceration of Black women and mothers in Brazil from the perspective of Rose, a former nursing assistant and inmate in a temporary penitentiary for mothers. She spends her days assisting with childbirth and childcare services until, during a Brazilian national soccer team match, she sees an opportunity to plan an escape. Blending elements of magical realism, the piece\u2014starring Aysha Nascimento, directed by Naruna Costa, and written by Jhonny Salaberg\u2014is loosely inspired by the real-life escape of a group of female prisoners, carrying their babies, from the Butant\u00e3 Penitentiary Progression Center in 2009.<\/p>\n

Aysha Nascimento<\/strong> is an actress, dancer, and theater director, trained at the Escola Livre de Teatro (ELT) in Santo Andr\u00e9 and at Universidade Anhembi Morumbi. She is a co-founder of Cia. dos Inventivos and Coletivo Negro.<\/p>\n

Jhonny Salaberg<\/strong> is an actor and playwright, trained at the Escola Livre de Teatro (ELT) in Santo Andr\u00e9. He has published plays through Cobog\u00f3 publishing house and is a co-founder of the theater group O Bonde.<\/p>\n

Naruna Costa is an actress<\/strong>, singer, songwriter, and theater director.
